Stand Up and Move!

Sitting at a desk all day can be exhausting and isn’t doing your body any favours. Here you’ll find a few energizing ideas on how to introduce some time away from it while at work.

Taking quick opportunities to get up and move will increase your blood flow, get your brain in the right mindset, and give you the energy to get through the rest of your day.

Try to incorporate these activities into your schedule outside of your lunch break. Aim to spend at least 5 minutes throughout each task 2-3 times a day to give your brain some rest.

Go to the stairwell and run up and down one flight of stairs 3 times.

Pick a colleague that sits far away from you and walk to their desk for a quick chat.

Get up and walk to the kitchen, whether it’s for tea, coffee, water, or a quick snack.

Offer to do a coffee run for your floor.

Add some plants to your space. Having to water them is a great reason to get up and move!

Don’t let your printed files pile up in the printer. Walk to pick them up individually.

Walk over to the window to open or close it.

Switch on the air conditioner, lights, or another impactful switch instead of leaving it for someone else.

Park further away from the office each day to walk a few extra metres.

Take some calls while standing or walking.

Move commonly used objects, like the trash or water filter, further away from your desk.
